Why your website brings no enquiries — 7 common reasons
Beautiful design, but the phone stays silent? I see these seven mistakes on almost every website that doesn’t sell — and here’s how to fix them.
Many businesses invest in a new website, are happy with the modern design — and then wonder why hardly any enquiries come in. Usually it isn’t the design, but a handful of recurring mistakes.
1. Nobody understands within 5 seconds what you offer
Visitors decide within seconds whether to stay. If the top of the page says “Welcome to our website” instead of a clear benefit, they’re gone.
Better: A headline that says what you do, for whom — and what result the customer gets.
2. There’s no clear next step
“Contact” at the very bottom of the menu isn’t enough. Every page needs a visible, unambiguous call to action: book an appointment, request a quote, call.
3. The site is a pain on mobile
More than half of all visitors come on mobile. Tiny text, buttons you can’t hit or forms with ten fields cost you enquiries.
4. There’s no proof
People buy from people they trust. Real customer testimonials, project examples, numbers, seals or a photo of you build that trust.
5. Objections remain unanswered
“How much does it cost?”, “How long does it take?”, “What if I don’t like it?” — anyone who can’t find these answers on the page rarely asks. A short FAQ section works wonders.
6. The site is too slow
Every second of loading time costs visitors. Large images, too many plugins and fonts are the most common brakes.
7. Nobody measures what happens
Without data, everything is gut feeling. Even simple metrics — visitors, clicks on the contact button, completed forms — show where prospects drop off.
A website isn’t a work of art, it’s a tool. It’s only finished when it brings in enquiries.
Conclusion
The good news: most of these points can be fixed without a complete relaunch. Often a clearer home page, a visible next step and a few trust elements are enough.
